Barista (25-30 hours/week)

Summary of Position:
The barista is an integral part of the essential unit of Simple Comforts Coffee Shop. This is a customer-facing, highly active role within the shop. Baristas provide warm welcomes to all customers, craft fresh drinks, and curate lunch items like sandwiches and soups. Baristas also handle money and maintain cleanliness within the shop.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assume 100% responsibility of total customer satisfaction
• Prepare a variety drinks, sandwiches, soups, and baked goods
• Handle and wash dishes, mugs, bowls, and food utensils
• Remove trash from common areas, kitchen, food prep, and bathrooms
• Take customer orders and use POS system
• Learn and communicate knowledge of menu items
• Open and close the shop based on shop best practices when needed
• Able to perform multiple duties throughout a shift

Preferred Qualifications and Traits:

• One year of experience in customer service, food service, or similar roles (prior experience not required)

• Self-motivated and fast learner
• Team player
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Enjoyment of working in fast-paced environment
• Superb communication skills
